Summer evening at the Lake... | Family photos in Banff, Alberta

One of the best things about my job is the people I meet. People who allow me into their homes, their lives and let me tell their story.

This family travelled from New York so we had been in touch for some time before the session and what a treat it was to finally meet them. Not only did they have an adorable little guy to celebrate but it was also their 2nd anniversary!

And have I mentioned I LOVE travelling to the mountains for sessions – just throwing that out there for anyone with a fall shoot booked.

the everyday | calgary family photographer

Everyday moments… Dad is at work, kids are home and so is mom. It’s these little glimpses of time spent together that we cling to as they get older. There’s always a place for family photos but I strongly believe we should also capture what their everyday was like growing up. Playing lego, going for walks and just hanging out. The simple stuff… I love these days.

(and Sandra – aka mom – is a photographer herself. You can check out her newly revamped website here)

This baby is a lucky little guy. He was born into a pretty great family. I first met them last fall when we toured the streets of Inglewood and was thrilled to hear from them again after the birth of their latest addition. Little Finlay has an awesome big brother (I haven’t forgotten our secret Jake) and a mom and dad who pretty much adore their kids. Love the smiles on their faces in the last shot… yup, I think it’s safe to say they’re loving parenthood   : )

(and remember my anniversary deal is now on for those of you considering a session)

The months of January and Febraury are notoriously slow for me. It’s always a welcome break after the holiday chaos, gives me time to spend with family and allows me time to shoot for myself. This picture of Quincy is so calming to me. It’s not often he is still long enough to notice how the light hits his face or how his lashes seem to go on forever.
