Summer evening at the Lake... | Family photos in Banff, Alberta

One of the best things about my job is the people I meet. People who allow me into their homes, their lives and let me tell their story.

This family travelled from New York so we had been in touch for some time before the session and what a treat it was to finally meet them. Not only did they have an adorable little guy to celebrate but it was also their 2nd anniversary!

And have I mentioned I LOVE travelling to the mountains for sessions – just throwing that out there for anyone with a fall shoot booked.

Another final session with one of my Baby love families. I love watching these kids grow up – from either just a bump or a newborn to a full on crawling, sometimes even walking one year old. It’s such a treat. You get to know the parents, the sibling(s) and watch them evolve as a family.

These two kiddos are just adorable and make me smile just thinking about them.

…well, I say ‘walks’ but with these two there was a bit of running as well. This was my third year photographing this family and every time has been a treat. When you get a hug at the start and end of the session, it confirms why I love doing what I do. These kids are so much fun!

Sam I am... once again | Calgary family photographer

It seems not that long ago that I found myself shooting my first engagement session and my very first wedding for a sweet, young couple who now I now consider good friends. Rachael and Bob – this is their life now… one adorable little Sam later. It was actually their fourth session with me and the second session in a row I got to meet up with past wedding clients and photograph them as a family… I love that!

This session is also a testament to what I tell clients again and again when they’re stressing about where their photo session should take place. It’s not the location that makes for a great shoot – it’s the people. The smiles, the laughter and the fun. Rachael had planned on taking me to a pretty little spot with trees and water they visit often but when we got there, we were swarmed by mosquitoes so we quickly headed to a nearby park, let Sam play a bit and then landed on a basketball court that happened to have great light at that time. Nothing fancy, just gorgeous evening light.

Simple surroundings make it easy for me to focus on you… let you become the stars of the shoot!
